Das zunehmende Vermischen von Kulturen auf unterschiedlichsten Ebenen, sei es in der Geschäftswelt, im Tourismus oder im alltäglichen Leben, wirft Fragen nach dem Erhalt, der Zerstörung oder Bereicherung kultureller Identitäten auf. Welche Bedeutung haben die globalen Entwicklungen für die Ausprägung unserer Identitäten? Wird man in Zukunft von einer globalen Weltidentität, einer globalen Kultur reden? Welche Rolle spielen dabei das Festhalten an lokalen Identitäten und die Herausbildung ethnischer Kolonien?
In dieser Arbeit soll basierend auf diesen zentralen Fragen ein Bild über die Auswirkungen der Globalisierung und der damit verbundenen Möglichkeiten oder auch Einschränkungen aufgezeigt werden, die bedeutend für alle Kulturen sein können.
Einleitend soll dabei ein kurzer Abriss über die Prozesse der Globalisierung und Internationalisierung, sowie die Komplexität des Begriffes Kultur und die Bedeutung und Konstruktion von Identitäten stehen, um im Anschluss daran die Vor- und Nachteile der globalen Beziehungen der Kulturen im Zusammenhang mit den aktuellen Theorien der Homogenisierung, kulturellen Diversität und Glokalisierung analysieren zu können. Abschließend wird ein Einblick über das Phänomen der ethnischen Kolonien gegeben und deren Entwicklung, Gefahren und Nutzen ergründet.
