Geogr., Geomorphologie, Umweltforschung, Note: 1,0, Universität Regensburg (Institut für Geographie), Veranstaltung: Hauptseminar Umweltforschung, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ist das Ozonloch immer noch eine Bedrohung für uns? Die breite Öffentlichkeit hat sich, der Berichterstattung der Medien folgend, mit dem Gedanken beruhigt, dass FCKW und Ozonzerstörung eher ein Problem der 1980er und 1990er Jahre gewesen waren, inzwischen aber weitgehend gelöst sind. Jedoch hat das Rekord-Ozonloch über der Antarktis im Jahr 2006 deutlich das Gegenteil bewiesen. Ozonloch und Ozonabbau in der Stratosphäre nehmen immer noch zu. Inzwischen ist auch klar, dass sich die Ozonschicht noch nicht bis zum erwarteten Zeitpunkt in 20 oder 30 Jahren erholen wird.
Die größten Ausmaße des Ozonabbaus werden jedes Jahr im Frühling über dem antarktischen Kontinent sichtbar. Die Ursache dieses Ozonlochs, dessen raum-zeitliche Variabilität und die Auswirkungen auf die Biosphäre stellen das Thema meiner Arbeit dar.
Das Ozon, von dem hier die Rede ist, befindet sich in der Stratosphäre, in einer Höhe von 12 bis 50 Kilometern über der Erde. Auch in der Troposphäre gibt es ein Ozonproblem, das jedoch auf die unerwünschte Zunahme des Ozons zurückzuführen ist. Dieses Ozonproblem hat mit dem der Stratosphäre zunächst nichts zu tun. Es kann die Ozonabnahme in der Stratosphäre auch nicht ausgleichen. In dieser Arbeit wird nur das Ozon der Stratosphäre behandelt. Dazu möchte ich als Erstes eine kleine Einführung geben.
