Seashells of Southern Arabia by Donald & Eloise Bosch No ISBN, published in 1989 by Motivate Publishing, Dubai, U.A.E., laminated cardboard covers, about 7½ by 10¾ inches (19.5 by 27.5cm.), 124 pages of which 95 are in English with some Arabic translation and there are also about 29 pages in Arabic which are translations of the English introductory sections, there are color photos that vary in number per page of most of the common and some very uncommon mollusks found in this area. This is an unusual book and one that is the first guide to mollusks to be geared to be of use by Arabic speaking shell enthusiasts. It is a very interesting guide and there is a lot that is covered in its introductory sections not seen elsewhere. For an example there is a section on first aid for issues that may come about on a collecting trip. As a shell guide this is an excellent resource. The specimen subjects are sharply focused and scientific nomenclature is used for these shells as well as Arabic translations of their names. The book covers about 250 different shells from this region. As well as a field guide this book can also serve as a quick reference guide to the shells living in this part of the world. This copy is about new in appearance and it is autographed by both of the authors both of whom have added a great deal to our knowledge of the shells from the Arabian Gulf.
