Questo mio libro è una raccolta di racconti, e cerca, com’è nel mio stile di scrittura, di sondare le inquietudini umane, di criticare la nostra modernità, di riscoprire il senso della trascendenza per dare senso a questa vita e altro ancora di cui sarebbe impossibile scrivere qui.
I temi sono grosso modo quelli di sempre, ma lo sfondo è quello della nostra epoca presente e parzialmente futura (che è già presente nel sottosuolo della cruda realtà odierna, se la si sa leggere).
L’uomo è sì lo stesso in tutte le epoche, ma è altresì certo che l’epoca contingente in cui si trova a vivere pone un accento sempre differente sulla riflessione delle domande eterne dell’uomo. E in questo senso, la nostra epoca ci mette davanti a un bivio, e l’uomo - al di là di una realtà imbellettata - deve scegliere tra due strade ben precise.
Questo bivio, che più o meno implicitamente ed esplicitamente emerge in alcuni racconti, è delineato chiaramente nel primissimo racconto.
In generale, i miei racconti sono simbolici; i luoghi che si incontreranno sono quasi sempre luoghi dello spirito, non luoghi fisici. Non esiste il realismo nei miei racconti, e al massimo il reale si mischia sempre col fantastico e con l’onirico, al fine di svelare una realtà più profonda rispetto a quella che si vede e che si può raccontare coi canoni realistici.
Cerco di percorrere i sentieri interiori dell’uomo moderno, e lo faccio attraverso delle deformazioni oniriche, tramite allegorie, tramite immagini simboliche che rimandano sempre a qualcos’altro, a qualche aspetto celato nella realtà, o a qualcosa che dobbiamo riconoscere nelle nostre coscienze, per prendere atto del reale dentro e fuori di noi, producendo inquietudine, avendone ribrezzo, al fine di cercare di migliorarci.
Tento, coi miei libri - e dunque anche con questo -, anche se so che è difficile (ma se non ci si pone vette alte è inutile prendere la penna in mano), tento di rispondere a quella definizione di libro che ne dà Kafka, il quale diceva che “bisogna a volte avere dei libri che siano come piccozze, che martellino sul nostro cervello, picchiando in profondità, facendoci interrogare su noi stessi, al di là di tutti i luoghi comuni, di tutte le sovrastrutture, costringendoci a guardare anche il nostro vuoto. Talvolta noi siamo sereni semplicemente perché non ci esaminiamo la coscienza. Se lo facessimo, troveremmo un nodo di vipere o il vuoto, cenere, anziché terra feconda”.
Coi miei racconti cerco di parlare non tanto al cervello del lettore, quanto al suo cuore e ai suoi occhi. Nei periodi storici in cui la ragione è offuscata, non si può parlare alla ragione dell’uomo, ma bisogna scavalcarla per giungere direttamente alla sua coscienza, superando in tal modo l’ostacolo del pregiudizio e dello stereotipo che galleggia nelle teste acquose di troppe persone; per questo io parlo quasi esclusivamente per immagini dentro i miei racconti, esentandomi dall’incarico di parlare direttamente con le parole che rappresentano chiaramente l’idea.
Le parole arrivano alla mente dell’uomo, ma io voglio arrivare direttamente alla sua coscienza, nelle profondità dell’uomo, e per questo uso delle immagini per mostrare la realtà dell’uomo e dell’Europa del XXI secolo.
